Ok, I've spent a little more than 2 weeks in Tunis at Bryan's place with his flatmates Daniel, Megan, and Chris. THANK YOU guys for letting me stay so long! Tunisia is very similar to Morocco on first sight (I'm not here for serious anthropological studies), maybe with the addition of many roman ruins, but considerably more expensive. Since I spent quite some time in Morocco and have seen enough roman ruins in my life, I thus decided not to visit the country but stay in and around Tunis. Annie joined for the first week. We visited the Bardo museum (roman mosaics and sculptures, very impressive if you like that stuff), La Marsa, and Sidi Bou Said, which are two nice little towns right north of Tunis. The rest of the time was spent partying and trying to get a Visa for Libya, which didn't work because I couldn't get an invitation letter in time.
Here are some pictures:

On Tunisia: You can come here if you want to do beach-holidays. For everything else go to Morocco, it's cheaper (and has beaches, too...).

On monday 31st I'll fly to Cairo in Egypt. If everything works according to plan I'll meet up with Martin, whom I met in the desert in M'Hamid. I plan to see the pyramids and the egyptian museum in Cairo and then make my way down to Luxor and from there to Marsa Alam and Abu Dabab, where I want to arrive around april 7th.

Tunis

short update

sunny 20 °C

I'm in Tunis at Bryan's place and I've mostly been drinking and partying for 10 days now. I probably won't be able to get into Lybia, so I'll party some more and then go to Egypt.
Important news (for me anyways): My publication in the scientific journal "Nature" will appear in the April 3rd 2008 edition.
Other news: I've stopped smoking to get my lungs cleared up before I start the divemaster job. So I'm living once again through the joys of nicotine deprivation. Oh bliss!
I'll upload more infos and especially pictures next week when I'll be able to access them on Bryan's temporarily abscent flatmate's computer :-)
