I had decided in November to come home to visit my mother. In October scans had shown two tumors in her brain. Within a month it was clear that the chemotherapy and radiotherapy had no effect. In early December we had to face the fact that the battle was lost and the therapy was discontinued. To keep me occupied I spent one week preparing every detail for the impending funeral with the help of my cousin Yasmine who came all the way from Tehran. My mother died on December 19th. Although the occasion was a sad one, I did get to see all my family again. My cousin came from Iran, another came from Paris, my sister came from Canada, and my uncle came from Brazil. It is somehow normal, but still, it's nice to see that in times of hardships you have the support of your family. I stayed around for Christmas and then took a flight back to India on December 30th to meet up with Bomi again.

Here's a picture of my cousin Yasmine at the dam close to my parent's place. She has been of incredible help during the funeral preparations. Thank you!
